Close came to the Association by way of the Ohio Department of Commerce where he served as Legislative Director, Chief of Staff and Assistant Director. Prior to that Matt served as Legislative Director to the Auditor of State and as Senior Legislative Aide to the House Ways and Means Chairman. He has a strong policy, political and regulatory background. Matt is a graduate of the Ohio State University’s Fisher College of Business.

Following a distinguished fourteen-year career as the Chief Financial Officer for the Ohio Department of Commerce, David joined OMCIA to assist with finances where he is responsible for budgeting and accounts payable and receivable. His professional experience includes having served as Chief of Staff for the County of Summit Legislative Branch and Director of Finance for the City of Munroe Falls. Hannan graduated from Kent State University with both a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Master of Public Administration with a concentration in Public Finance.

Sophia is the most recent addition to Ohio Medical Cannabis Industry Association serving as the association’s Marketing Coordinator. Sophia is a graduate of Xavier University with an Honors degree in Philosophy, Politics, and the Public and double major in Communications. Sophia’s role at OMCIA focuses on facilitating communication and educating registered and eligible medical marijuana patients across Ohio. She assists in developing marketing initiatives, member newsletters, and industry events.
